RP Technologies is pleased to announce that from March 2024 we will be offering sub-contract CMM measurement and inspection services.
Accredited to ISO 9001:2015 standards, RP has, for many years, provided CMM inspection services to our existing customers to support the products we’ve manufactured for them.
But now we’ve decided to go one step further.
We will now be supporting companies across a range of different industries by providing high quality sub-contract services in various aspects of metrology, CMM measurement, quality inspection, and quality engineering.
Using the latest measurement software and technology, our highly experienced in-house Quality Engineering department will provide an expert service tailored to your specific needs.
How Will This New CMM Inspection Service Work?
Based on evidence-based investigation, our Quality Engineers will provide precise measurement and inspection data for a range of different applications.
These dimensional inspection services are vitally important in ensuring that products meet their specifications. They will help to ensure product quality and will identify any manufacturing issues related to product performance, design, or appearance.
Our metrology and inspection services can potentially result in savings for customers, as well as ensuring that future production is not delayed or compromised by quality issues.
From one-off inspection to multi-batch inspection, we provide a comprehensive suite of quality engineering support services.

What Else is on Offer?
We’ll be working from single components to low-medium batches. In addition to injection moulded parts, our work will also include CNC machined components, tooling, and castings.
We’ll provide comprehensive reporting to supplement our investigations, and we’ll also offer an advice and consultation service where our Quality Engineers will conduct a 1-hour online meeting with each customer to talk them through the findings of their report.
RP is externally audited each year to the approved ISO 9001 industry standard. All work is carried out in-house at our 25,000 sq. ft production facility. Measurement and inspection work is conducted in our fully air-conditioned temperature-controlled quality engineering room.
Our Quality Engineering Technologies
The QCT Quantum 4 CMM Machine
The QCT Quantum 4 CMM machine includes a hard anodised aluminium X axis bridge and Z spindle with air bearings. It is fitted with high precision Renishaw digital reader heads and scales. Superior Maxon motor gearbox units are used on all drive axis. The controller is QCT ACC3000 (USB) and a high-quality joystick unit ensures full multi-axis control.
What makes the QCT Quantum 4 stand out from the crowd is its QCT Inspect 3D-PRO Software. The systems graphics engine allows for quick calculations and the construction of complex features.
It has a comprehensive set of reporting tools for ease of analysis and the tracking of precise data. Reports are exportable in Excel and PDF formats and can be shared with customers. Additional features include SPC Charts, Measurement MACROs and PIPE Measurement.
The QCT Quantum 4 also boasts the Renishaw Probe System. This is a fully motorised indexing head designed specifically for use on CNC CMMs. It provides 720 indexing positions in 7.5 degree indexing steps in both axes. The MCR20 rack allows TP20 modules to be automatically changed during a program.
Starrett HE400 Optical Profile Projector
The Starrett HE400 horizontal benchtop shadowgraph allows for precision engineering and efficient quality control processes.
It has a 400mm screen, 250mm x-axis table travel, bayonet fitting lenses and Q-axis angular readout. It also features a fully retractable duplex fibre optic surface illumination and a lamphouse mounted helix adjustment for accurate threadform inspection.
It is fitted with the industry leading Quadra-Chek/Metlogix digital readout systems to handle the most complex measuring requirements.
It has a large measuring travel (254mm/10” X-axis, 100mm/4” Y-axis), and it is capable of fine adjustment on all axes. It also has a high precision workstage with 480 x 120mm top plate, with a machined slot for easy fixturing.
